Raxio Angola is a significant milestone for Angola's digital infrastructure, launching as the country's first carrier-neutral Tier III data center. Scheduled for commissioning in 2024 and becoming operational in 2025, this purpose-built facility is designed to meet the burgeoning demand for digital tools and services. It targets a wide range of industries, including financial services, telecoms, ISPs, and enterprise CDNs, aiming to make the internet experience faster, more resilient, and more affordable for all users in the region.
Location and Connectivity
The facility is strategically located in Cacuaco, near Luanda city center. Its position along the main fiber route is crucial for ensuring hyper-connectivity. As a carrier-neutral facility, it features a Meet-Me-Room (MMR), allowing clients to connect to a variety of carriers and partners, fostering a rich digital ecosystem.
Capacity and Colocation Services
The data center is a large-scale facility with a total building size of 19,000 sq.m., encompassing 2,000 sq.m. of fully built-out whitespace. It is designed to host up to 800 racks, with a maximum power density of 21 kW per rack. The total power capacity will reach 7 MW when fully built out, with 3 MW of power live at launch. Raxio Angola offers a flexible range of colocation services, including Full Cabinets, Partial Cabinets, Shared Rackspace, Cages, and Suites.
Power, Cooling, and Resiliency
Designed to robust Tier 3 standards, the facility guarantees high availability through full redundancy and concurrent maintainability. The power system is highly resilient, featuring 2N UPS redundancy and N+1 standby power redundancy. An on-site fuel supply can support the facility at full capacity for 72 hours, ensuring uninterrupted service. The cooling infrastructure provides 7 MW of provision with N+1 redundancy, maintaining humidity within ASHRAE TC9.9 recommended ranges and achieving a design Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.3.
Security and Operations
Raxio Angola implements seven layers of physical security to protect client equipment. This comprehensive security includes a fenced perimeter, 24/7 CCTV surveillance, biometric access control, and card access control. The data hall and all technical areas are protected by an automatic gas suppression fire system. The facility is staffed 24/7 by both on-site security and technical personnel, with "Remote Hands" services available to assist clients.
