The SaskTel Saskatoon North Data Centre is a premier Tier III facility engineered for maximum reliability and operational efficiency. Strategically located in a geologically stable environment, the facility is designed to withstand environmental threats and minimize the risk of natural disasters. This foundational stability ensures that the physical infrastructure remains secure, providing a dependable home for mission critical IT assets.

To maintain the longevity and performance of hosted hardware, the data centre adheres to strict ASHRAE 2011 Environmental Class A1 guidelines. These industry leading standards govern temperature and humidity levels, creating an optimal climate for sensitive electronics. The cooling infrastructure is built with N plus 1 redundancy, ensuring that even if a cooling unit fails, the facility maintains the precise thermal conditions required to prevent equipment overheating.

Power continuity is the backbone of the facility, utilizing a multi layered approach to prevent downtime. The site is supported by a stable public power grid, supplemented by an N plus 1 UPS system and battery backups to handle immediate transitions. In the event of a prolonged utility failure, standby diesel generators also featuring N plus 1 redundancy engage automatically, supported by a minimum of three days worth of fuel stored directly on site.

Security at the Saskatoon North Data Centre is rigorous and multi faceted, featuring 24 by 7 bonded security personnel and continuous CCTV surveillance. Access is strictly governed through a combination of electronic card access and biometric controls. Furthermore, the building’s architectural design enhances protection by eliminating direct external access through windows or doors, ensuring that IT assets are shielded from unauthorized physical entry.

Protecting hardware from fire damage requires sophisticated prevention and intervention systems. The facility utilizes a double interlock pre action fire suppression system, which acts as a safeguard against accidental water discharge. This dry pipe approach ensures that water only enters the piping system if multiple sensors are triggered, providing a highly reliable and automated response to fire threats while protecting equipment from water related accidents.

The facility offers 9,650 square feet of fully built out whitespace, designed to accommodate a variety of client needs. Options range from shared rackspace and partial cabinets to full cabinets and private cages. The data centre is also designed for future growth with expandable whitespace, ensuring that businesses can scale their infrastructure without relocating. Additionally, the site includes practical amenities such as a Loading Bay, Office Space, and Conference Rooms for client use.

As a carrier neutral hub, the data centre features a dedicated Meet Me Room and access to three peering networks, providing high speed low latency connectivity. Clients benefit from 24 by 7 onsite technical staff and Remote Hands services, allowing for professional assistance with hardware tasks at any hour.
