Global Switch (Global Switch Paris West) Data Center

Global Switch Paris boasts one of the largest floorplates in France, encompassing over 50,000 square meters of total space. The campus is divided into two primary sections: Paris East and Paris West. Paris East alone provides 34,915 square meters of space distributed across six specialized data floors. These purpose-built facilities feature reinforced concrete frames and raised floors designed to handle heavy floor loading of 10 kN/m², making them suitable for large-scale enterprise deployments and high-density hardware.

The campus is engineered for high-performance computing, offering a fully built-out power capacity of 25 MW. The electrical infrastructure is designed to exceed Tier III standards, providing a standard offering of 800 to 1,000 W/m² with the ability to support even higher densities for bespoke requirements. Reliability is ensured through an N+2 UPS redundancy configuration and on-site fuel storage capable of supporting 48 hours of full-capacity operation, backed by 24/7 fuel delivery contracts.

To manage the heat generated by its high-density power loads, the facility utilizes sophisticated, energy-efficient cooling solutions. The system operates with N+1 cooling redundancy, employing Computer Room Air Conditioning units that maintain temperature and humidity within the strict ASHRAE TC9.9 recommended ranges. The infrastructure also features reconfigurable cooling and diverse distribution pipework, allowing for the integration of liquid-cooled solutions or other specialized environmental controls as needed by the customer.

As a carrier-neutral hub, the campus has attracted a dense ecosystem of international Tier 1 and Tier 2 carriers, as well as leading French CAC 40 brands. It features five geographically diverse building entry points and two dedicated Meet Me Rooms. A structured interconnect system allows for seamless, low-cost connections between Paris East and Paris West, providing clients with access to a wide array of services including dark fiber, MPLS, IP transit, and direct cloud on-ramps.

Security is maintained through a multi-layered approach that operates 24/7/365. The perimeter and interior are protected by constant CCTV surveillance with 31-day recording retention, onsite security staff, and a physical mantrap entry system. Access is strictly managed using proximity card readers and biometric systems. These measures ensure that the environment remains secure for sensitive data and high-value mission-critical equipment.

The facility’s operations are governed by the world-renowned Critical Environments Programme, which focuses on continual improvement and risk mitigation. Global Switch Paris maintains an extensive list of international certifications, including ISO 9001 for Quality, ISO 14001 for Environmental Management, ISO 27001 for Information Security, ISO 45001 for Health and Safety, and ISO 50001 for Energy Management. It is also fully PCI DSS compliant, meeting the rigorous standards required for financial services and payment card data handling.

To support its diverse clientele, the campus provides 24/7 onsite technical and facilities management teams. These experts manage the complex Building Management Systems and offer Remote Hands services to assist with hardware maintenance and troubleshooting. The facility also includes practical logistical features such as secure loading bays and staging areas, ensuring that the deployment and scaling of IT infrastructure are handled efficiently from arrival to installation.
