Playnet Srl, founded in 1998 as a division of Brain Technology SpA, is a Full Service Provider offering advanced IT solutions that help businesses optimize their operations and strengthen their web presence. At the heart of Playnet’s infrastructure are its web farms located within its modern Data Center in Florence (FI), positioned less than one kilometer from the Firenze Nord exit of the A1 motorway. Unlike many providers that rely on external cloud services, Playnet ensures that all customer data is securely stored and constantly monitored at its own facilities in Sesto Fiorentino.

The Florence Data Center benefits from the expertise gained during Playnet’s management of the Tuscany Internet eXchange (TIX) from 2002 to 2011, offering superior levels of reliability, connectivity, and performance. The facility is equipped with robust systems, including anti-intrusion and identification-based access controls, fireproof walls with inert gas fire suppression, redundant power backup with a 1000 KVA diesel generator and dual 160 KVA uninterruptible power supplies, advanced perimeter and rack cooling maintaining stable temperatures between 18°C and 20°C, and a floating floor design to simplify backbone and rack cabling.

Playnet also provides Cloud Computing and Datacenter Housing services, relying on enterprise-grade hardware from leading manufacturers such as Cisco, EMC, Dell, and HP. This guarantees the performance, reliability, and scalability demanded by modern IT environments.

In case of a power outage, the infrastructure guarantees uninterrupted operations through a diesel generator unit that ensures complete autonomy. The switchover from the main grid to emergency power takes about 60 seconds, while the presence of UPS systems and on-site refueling capabilities extends the autonomy indefinitely.

Security and efficiency also extend to client access procedures. Entry to the building requires identification and registration at reception, followed by access to the datacenter rooms through personal identification codes, with all clients accompanied by Playnet staff. At the same time, operational procedures are designed to avoid unnecessary delays, enabling quick access to equipment and simplified hardware transport through a direct loading ramp into the datacenter.
