Situated at Via Caldera 21 in Milan’s premier executive center, C21 stands as the first facility in the area designed and implemented to Tier 4 standards. The data center spans a total of 3,100 square meters, with a dedicated computer room area of 1,700 square meters divided into two primary spaces. Its logistical infrastructure is robust, featuring two dock leveler bays and a scissors lift bay for equipment handling, alongside 25+ parking spaces and leasable flexible office options for onsite teams. Its proximity to Milan Linate Airport further enhances its accessibility for international stakeholders.

The facility is engineered to handle diverse workloads, ranging from standard operations to high-performance computing (HPC). While the standard power density is set at 1.5 kW/mq, C21 offers optional high-density configurations reaching up to 6 kW/mq. This flexibility is critical for specialized clients like C121, who require racks capable of supporting 24 kW/rack for HPC consumption. This power-to-space ratio ensures that the facility can accommodate the most demanding modern hardware architectures within a Tier 4 framework.

Connectivity is a core strength of C21, which operates as a Carrier Neutral facility with three separate network Points of Entry (POE). These entries utilize diverse underground duct banks to eliminate single points of failure. The center features two Meet Me Rooms (MMR) and maintains a double-path interconnection via 2*144 Core Fiber Optic Cables directly to the Milan Internet eXchange (MIX). With access to 38 peering networks and 2 major network providers, the facility ensures high-speed, low-latency data transfer for all tenants.

Security at C21 is managed through a multi-layered approach that combines physical presence with advanced technology. The facility is staffed by security officers 24/7/365, complemented by continuous CCTV surveillance of both the interior and exterior perimeters. Access to sensitive areas is strictly governed by electronic security features, requiring a combination of key card access and biometric authentication. This rigorous protocol ensures that only authorized personnel can interact with the critical infrastructure.

To safeguard high-value hardware, C21 utilizes a sophisticated dual-stage fire suppression strategy. The primary protection is provided by a HI-FOG® water mist system, which provides effective cooling and suppression with minimal water usage. For more localized protection, the facility employs an active extinguishing system within the racks themselves (occupying only 1U) using 3M™ Novec™ 1230. This sensitive fire detection and residue-free extinguishing fluid are specifically designed to protect delicate electronics without leaving damaging traces behind.

Pure C21 is a leader in sustainable data center design, targeting an industry-leading annualized Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.25 at 85% of critical load capacity. The facility offers a variety of deployment options to suit different business needs, including full and partial cabinets, shared rackspace, cages, and private suites.
