Cellnex Netherlands Data Center

Cellnex datacenters are designed with a compact and modular architecture, allowing for flexible scaling and easy integration of new technologies. The small-scale nature of the data floors supports customized configurations that align with evolving customer needs and expectations.

Cellnex's first datacenter was established within the radio mast located in Zwollerkerspel, a former district of Zwolle in the Netherlands. This tower, originally constructed around 1959, was used solely for transmitting radio frequencies and never for television signals. On December 1, 2009, the site was converted into a datacenter and began serving an accountancy and consultancy firm with multiple offices across the Netherlands.

The datacenter offers a total surface area of 75 square meters and is built on the cold corridor principle to optimize cooling efficiency. It provides a total power capacity of 150 kVA, with each rack supporting a standard capacity of 1 to 20 kVA. Power is distributed via dual A and B feeds, ensuring redundancy. Available voltage options include 230V and 400V, with 48V available upon request. The facility maintains an optimal operating temperature between 20°C and 27°C, supports a maximum power of 0.15 MW, and delivers up to 20 kW per rack. It boasts a PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) value of less than 1.2, reflecting high energy efficiency.

The datacenter is fully powered by 100% renewable Dutch wind energy, reinforcing Cellnex's commitment to sustainability and environmentally responsible operations.

To ensure robust physical security, the facility is equipped with CCTV surveillance, biometric access control, and card-based access systems, providing multiple layers of protection for clients' infrastructure.

Cellnex offers a range of colocation options to meet diverse client needs, including full cabinets, partial cabinets, shared rackspace, cages, and footprints. Additionally, remote hands services are available to support day-to-day operations and technical requirements.

The datacenter is a retrofitted facility, modernized to support current industry standards. Although it is serviced by a single network provider, it ensures stable and reliable connectivity for its tenants.
