Cellnex Netherlands Data Center

The Cellnex datacenter in Roosendaal stands as a remarkable fusion of historical significance and cutting-edge technology. Originally constructed in the early 1960s, the tower served as a key radio and television mast in the Netherlands. Although there were plans by its former owner, KPN, to convert the tower into an apartment building in 2006, the project never materialized. Instead, Cellnex acquired the structure and repurposed it into a fully functional, high-performance datacenter.

Designed with flexibility in mind, the Cellnex Roosendaal datacenter follows a compact and modular layout. Each data floor spans 50 square meters, totaling 100 square meters of operational white space. This small-scale approach allows the datacenter to seamlessly adopt the latest technologies and meet the evolving needs of its clients.

The facility delivers a total power capacity of 281 kVA, supporting per-rack capacities from 1 to 20 kVA. Dual power feeds (A and B) ensure redundancy and uninterrupted operation, with voltage support for 230V and 400V systems, and 48V available upon request. The datacenter is powered entirely by sustainable Dutch wind energy and employs direct free air cooling, contributing to its impressive Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of less than 1.2. The fully built-out power capacity stands at 0.281 MW.

Security is a cornerstone of the Roosendaal facility. Advanced measures such as CCTV surveillance, biometric access control, and card access systems protect the infrastructure. Clients benefit from flexible space options, including full and partial cabinets, shared rackspace, cages, and footprints. Remote hands support is also available, ensuring operational continuity and on-demand technical assistance.

Housed in a retrofitted broadcast tower, the Cellnex Roosendaal datacenter represents a sustainable reuse of existing infrastructure. With high energy efficiency, robust power and cooling systems, and comprehensive security protocols, it offers a reliable and environmentally responsible solution for modern digital operations.
