The Rostelecom Moscow-IV Data Center in Moscow is a state-of-the-art facility being developed for high reliability and security. Construction commenced on July 29, 2020. The project is a collaboration between Rostelecom-Data Center and DataLine, with the latter having joined Rostelecom earlier in 2020.
Capacity and Scale
The planned capacity for the Moscow-IV Data Center is substantial, including space for 2,000 racks. The total built-out area, or whitespace, is specified as 10,150 square meters. Furthermore, the fully built-out power capacity is expected to be 17 MW.
Tier IV Standard and Reliability
The data center is engineered to meet the stringent Tier IV standards, which guarantees maximum reliability and fault tolerance. This is achieved by implementing not only redundancy across all systems and distribution channels but also physical protection against destruction for all elements. This design ensures uninterrupted power supply and continuous cooling for the IT equipment, even during a system failure.
Certification Goals
Rostelecom is committed to achieving full Tier IV compliance. They aim to certify the Moscow-IV Data Center in three critical areas: design documentation, the facility itself, and operational sustainability. Successfully obtaining this certification will establish the facility as one of the most reliable data centers in Russia.
Phased Launch Timeline
The project has a defined timeline for its operational phases. The full-scale launch of the entire data center is slated for mid-2022. Prior to that, the initial phase, comprising the first 500 racks, was expected to be operational during the second half of 2021.
Available Services
The Moscow-IV Data Center will offer a variety of colocation and hosting services to its customers. These services include accommodation for Full Cabinets, Partial Cabinets, Shared Rackspace, Cages, and Suites. Additionally, the facility will provide Remote Hands services for essential on-site maintenance and support.
