Datacube is strategically located in an industrial area on the edge of Bratislava, positioning it less than 70 km from downtown Vienna. This site was chosen due to its close proximity to two independent electrical substations and its location along a multitude of international and local fiber optic routes, including the major Prague-Budapest-Vienna-Kiev corridor. The facility is connected to these main fiber routes from two different sides, ensuring robust connectivity.
Facility Layout and Available Space
The data center is a purpose-built, freestanding building operational since 2011. It features 2,700 square meters of dedicated IT rooms and 3,990 square meters for operations offices, technical space, the entrance, and security rooms. For clients, the facility also offers 670 square meters of office space and 340 square meters of storage space available for lease.
Power Infrastructure and Resiliency
Designed to a Tier III standard, the facility's power and cooling systems feature a minimum N+1 configuration. Datacube has access to up to 20 MVA of power from the public grid, sourced via two independent electrical substations with strict zonation. The entire facility is engineered to support a power density of 2 kW per square meter.
Advanced Cooling Systems
The center utilizes a highly effective Stulz system of CRAC (Computer Room Air Conditioning) units and dry coolers to maintain optimal operating temperatures. This system, which also operates at N+1 redundancy, is designed for efficiency and engages a free cooling mixed mode once the outside temperature reaches 25°C.
Physical and Site Security
Datacube is protected by comprehensive 24/7 onsite security staff, CCTV surveillance, and card access control. The freestanding building is secured by a 3-meter high security fence and crash barriers. Furthermore, the IT rooms and all critical equipment spaces comply with level 3 of the EU ENV 1627 security norm.
Fire Suppression and Operational Details
For fire protection, the data center is equipped with a high-speed VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus) system featuring three-stage detection. In the event of a fire, a nitrogen gas suppression system is deployed in the IT area and technical spaces. The facility operates as a multi-tenant environment and includes a Meet-Me-Room (MMR), one Internet Exchange Point (IXP), and one network provider.
