BE Bournemouth, owned and operated by The BE Company, stands as the premier data centre facility on the UK’s south coast. Located in Poole, Dorset, this purpose built facility is engineered specifically for mission critical workloads. Since becoming operational in 2009, it has served as a vital hub for AI model training, latency sensitive services, and large scale enterprise compute. The site provides a total building size of 1,394 sq.m., offering a professional environment that includes conference rooms, breakrooms, office spaces, and secure onsite parking.

The facility is designed for high density performance with a fully built out power capacity of 3 MW. Currently, 0.8 MW is live, with an additional 2.2 MW planned for future expansion. To ensure continuous operation, the site utilizes N+1 UPS redundancy with 2N available for critical systems, featuring five 160kVA Eaton UPS units capable of 20 minutes of runtime at full load. This system is robust enough to support the IT load even if two units fail. Emergency backup is provided by two parallel connected FG Wilson generators, each load tested to 960kW, providing 48 hours of autonomous operation at full load.

Maintaining optimal temperatures for high performance hardware is a priority at BE Bournemouth. The facility employs N+1 redundancy across both its chillers and CRAC units. This climate control strategy supports a maximum power density of 4 kW per rack. From an efficiency standpoint, the data centre operates with a Power Usage Effectiveness of 1.5, balancing the high demands of enterprise compute with environmental innovation and sustainable infrastructure practices.

The facility offers 353 sq.m. of live whitespace, which is fully built out but remains expandable to meet growing demand. Clients benefit from a variety of flexible deployment models, ranging from shared rackspace and partial cabinets to private cages, suites, and bespoke build to suit footprints. The technical environment is built on a raised floor system with a significant floor to ceiling height and a maximum floor load capacity of 1,223 kg per sq.m., allowing for the installation of heavy, high density hardware.

BE Bournemouth is a carrier neutral facility designed to provide high speed, low latency connectivity. It features a dedicated Meet Me Room and hosts four distinct network providers, ensuring path diversity and resilience for critical data transfers. The presence of onsite WiFi and diverse fibre entries makes it an ideal location for organisations that require seamless integration between their local office operations and their remote server infrastructure.

Security is handled through a multi layered approach to protect sensitive data and physical assets. The perimeter is fully fenced and monitored by constant CCTV surveillance. Physical entry is strictly controlled via a mantrap, requiring both card access and biometric authentication. The site is staffed by security and technical personnel during business hours, and Remote Hands services are available to assist clients with hardware management. Furthermore, the facility adheres to Tier 3 design standards, ensuring high availability and minimal downtime.

The data centre maintains a rigorous compliance profile, holding certifications for ISO27001, ISO9001, SOC 2 Type II, and PCI DSS for secure financial transactions. To protect the hardware from environmental hazards, the facility is equipped with an automatic fire suppression system. This includes VESDA and gas suppression using FM200 or an equivalent agent, ensuring that any fire risk is neutralized without damaging delicate electronic equipment.
