The facility was designed with three foundational pillars extreme energy efficiency, high level redundancy, and strategic accessibility. Since becoming operational in 2008, the data centre has balanced environmental responsibility with technical resilience. The 4050 ft² server hall is engineered to provide a high quality, secure environment that caters to modern enterprise needs while maintaining a green thinking philosophy at every level of operation.
The facility prides itself on an industry leading cooling strategy that is 40 percent more efficient than traditional hot and cold aisle setups. It utilizes the award winning Denco Ambicool system, which leverages indirect free cooling during colder months. This is integrated with Minkels Cold Aisle Enclosure technology, ensuring that cooling is targeted strictly within the enclosures rather than wasting energy on the entire hall. These innovations allow the site to maintain a constant temperature of 23°C with a tolerance of 1°C and an impressive Power Usage Effectiveness of 1.4.
With a total power feed of 1 MW, the data centre is built for uninterrupted performance. The infrastructure features 4 × 160 kVA Riello UPS units and 2 × 550 kVA standby diesel generators, both configured with N plus 1 redundancy. Each 46U cabinet is equipped with dual 32A power feeds, supporting a maximum power density of 6 kW per rack. This Tier 3 design ensures that critical systems remain online even during primary utility failures.
The facility offers a robust communication backbone characterized by diverse fibre routing through multiple carriers. The internal network utilizes a 10Gb Cat6a S FTP cable system with additional fibre options available for high demand users. Resilience is further guaranteed through multiple redundant core switches and routers, ensuring that the network remains highly available and low latency for all hosted clients.
Security is managed through a multi layered approach including 24/7 onsite security staff, CCTV surveillance, and advanced access controls such as biometrics and card readers. To protect hardware from environmental threats, the site employs a dual VESDA fire detection system paired with FM200 gas suppression. These systems are monitored 24/7 alongside environmental sensors to detect and mitigate risks before they impact hardware performance.
Situated in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, the data centre is perfectly positioned for easy access, sitting just minutes from the A1 Motorway and 30 miles from Central London. Its proximity to Stevenage Railway Station provides a quick 20 minute link to Kings Cross. The site is fully equipped for tenant convenience, offering onsite parking, a loading bay, a breakroom, and 24/7 Remote Hands technical support to assist with hardware maintenance and troubleshooting.
