It is strategically situated just 1.5 miles from the Tysons Metro Station and approximately 14 miles from both Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). The facility includes roof access and a raised floor design. Though it currently has one peering network, its proximity to major exchange points supports enhanced network interconnectivity for enterprise clients.
Power and Capacity
VA1 offers 10MW of fully built-out power, expandable up to 15MW, and supports deployment configurations in N, N+1, and 2N redundancy. The facility features a total of 70,000 square feet of fully built-out whitespace within a 200,000 square foot building. With power densities ranging from 4kW to over 35kW per rack, the facility is equipped to handle the most intensive workloads. All power and electrical distribution is located beneath a raised floor for optimized infrastructure layout.
Robust Infrastructure and Backup Systems
The facility is backed by eight diesel generators, providing 8,600kW of backup power and supported by an onsite 50,000-gallon fuel reserve. UPS and cooling systems are designed with N+1 redundancy to ensure uninterrupted operations and high availability.
Security and Fire Protection
Security at VA1 is multi-layered and includes mantrap entry, biometric access control, card access systems, and 24/7 onsite security staff. CCTV surveillance monitors all critical areas. Fire protection is handled by a double-interlock, pre-action dry-pipe fire suppression system, ensuring swift response while minimizing equipment risk.
