Strategically located in Council Bluffs, Iowa, CyrusOne’s OCB1 is a premier, purpose-built data center designed to meet large scale enterprise needs. The massive facility spans a total building size of 216,000 square feet, providing a substantial 120,000 square feet of dedicated raised floor or "white space." This expansive footprint allows for a highly versatile environment where clients can utilize full cabinets, partial cabinets, shared rackspace, private cages, or even dedicated suites to house their critical IT infrastructure.

The facility is engineered for high density performance with a fully built out power capacity of 18 MW. The electrical architecture features a distributed redundant UPS system utilizing 4,500 kVA blocks to ensure seamless energy delivery. To maintain a maximum power density of 0.180 kW/sq. ft., the site is supported by a formidable standby power array consisting of sixteen 2.25 MW diesel generators for critical loads and a separate 1.25 MW diesel generator for general building operations.

OCB1 is recognized for industry leading efficiencies and the integration of the latest cooling technology. The climate is managed by four 500 ton chillers paired with CRAH (Computer Room Air Handler) units strategically supporting each data hall. This sophisticated thermal management system allows the facility to achieve uniquely low Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) ratings, ensuring that energy consumption is optimized for maximum environmental and operational sustainability.

Built to the highest industry standards, the data center boasts a Tier 4 design classification. This level of certification signifies a "fault-tolerant" infrastructure where every component has independent, dual powered cooling and power systems. This architecture minimizes the risk of downtime, ensuring that even in the event of hardware failure or scheduled maintenance, the mission critical operations of the facility remain completely uninterrupted.

Security at OCB1 is handled through a rigorous, multilayered approach to protect physical assets and data integrity. The perimeter and interior are monitored by 24/7 onsite security staff and continuous CCTV surveillance. Access is strictly controlled via a combination of biometric scanners and secure card access systems. Furthermore, the facility includes professional loading bays to ensure that the chain of custody for incoming and outgoing hardware is maintained at all times.

To protect sensitive electronic equipment from fire damage, the facility utilizes a sophisticated VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus) system. This is paired with a double-interlocking, fully sprinklered fire suppression system. This "double-interlock" design is a critical safety feature that prevents accidental water discharge, requiring both a smoke detection trigger and a heat sensitive head activation before water enters the pipes.

The OCB1 facility is a highly regulated environment, maintaining an extensive list of certifications including HIPAA, FISMA, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, and HITECH. It is also SSAE 18 audited and SOC 1 & 2 Type II certified, making it ideal for healthcare, government, and financial sectors. On the connectivity front, the facility hosts multiple network providers and offers "Remote Hands" services, allowing clients to have onsite technicians perform hardware tasks on their behalf 24/7.
