The US Signal Detroit Metro Data Center serves as a high tech hub strategically located near the Detroit Metro Airport and major transit corridors. The facility currently encompasses a total building size of 25,000 square feet, which includes 14,000 square feet of fully built out whitespace. Designed with the future in mind, the site offers scalable whitespace expansion capabilities, allowing it to potentially grow up to 100,000 square feet to meet the evolving infrastructure needs of modern enterprises.

To support high-density computing, the facility is engineered with a fully built-out power capacity of 4.5 MW, with 1.5 MW currently live and an additional 3 MW planned for future deployment. Reliability is maintained through a highly resilient 2N UPS redundancy and 2N standby power redundancy. This system is supported by onsite diesel generators and AC UPS units, ensuring that critical loads remain protected against any utility fluctuations or outages.

Climate stability is managed through a sophisticated cooling system featuring an N+1 redundancy design. This ensures that environmental conditions remain optimal for sensitive hardware even during maintenance or component failure. Furthermore, the facility integrates free cooling technologies, which leverage external temperatures to improve energy efficiency and reduce the overall carbon footprint of the data center’s operations.

Security is managed through a multi layered approach that includes a mantrap entry and biometric access controls to prevent unauthorized physical access. The site is monitored by 24/7 surveillance and features onsite security staff during business hours, complemented by 24/7 onsite technical personnel. To further protect the perimeter, the parking area is physically separated from the loading docks, ensuring controlled movement of vehicles and personnel.

The data center is built to withstand both natural and man-made threats. It is situated outside the 100 year flood plain and constructed to IBC 2006 standards for fire resistance. Fire safety is prioritized through an Ecaro 25 plus dry fire suppression system and advanced early warning systems for smoke and leak detection. These measures, combined with the facility’s structural integrity, allow it to guarantee an SLA backed 99.995 percent uptime for continuous operations.

Trust and transparency are core to the facility’s operations, as evidenced by its extensive list of certifications. The data center is SSAE 18 audited and holds SOC 1 Type II and SOC 2 Type I certifications. It is fully compliant with HIPAA, HITECH, and PCI DSS standards, making it an ideal environment for healthcare, financial services, and other industries that handle sensitive, regulated data.

Operational since 2020, the facility offers a variety of space configurations including full cabinets, partial cabinets, shared rackspace, and private cages. Beyond physical space, it serves as a foundation for hybrid IT strategies and enterprise grade cloud services.
