The Moses Lake Data center in Central Washington offers colocation solutions with access to multiple network providers, prioritizing security, resilience, utility, and cost-effectiveness. This remote facility leverages free air-cooling and hydropower in a low-risk location, making it excellent for disaster recovery and workloads that are not sensitive to latency. Key features include a 413,000 sq.ft. total building size and a targeted Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.25.
The data center benefits immensely from Central Washington's abundant hydroelectric power, which supplies over 85 percent of the facility's utility power. This reliance on clean energy establishes it as a low carbon footprint hosting solution and one of the most cost-effective colocation choices in North America. Power is supplied from an adjacent substation, with an initial capacity of five megawatts (MW) and an ultimate support potential of 80 MW of IT load. The maximum power density is 0.2 kW/sq.f., and the fully built-out power is 32 MW.
Designed to maximize security, the facility features CCTV surveillance and 24/7 onsite security staff. The data center offers a comprehensive range of colocation options, including Full Cabinets, Partial Cabinets, Shared Rackspace, and Cages, along with Remote Hands service. The Data center meets important regulatory and industry compliance standards, being DSS PCI Compliant, HIPAA Compliant, and SOC 2 Type II Certified. It also connects to two peering networks.
The building possesses a rich history, having been one of the first purpose-built hardened data centers ever constructed. It initially functioned as a North American Air Defense Command Direction Center from 1958-1963, housing an IBM S.A.G.E. computer system for US air defense coordination during the early Cold War. It has recently undergone a complete refit to be transformed into a modern, highly resilient data center.
Situated in a low-risk geographical area ideal for disaster recovery, the facility's remote location is supported by regional infrastructure. The closest major airports are Spokane International (SPO), approximately a two-hour drive away, and Seattle-Tacoma International (SEA), which is about a three-hour drive from the Data center
